On March 14 & 15, 2002, thirty-five students from Mid-Maine Technical Center competed in twenty-eight competitions at the SkillsUSA Championships. Sixty percent of the thirty-five competitors received a medal in their competition. Annually, Mid-Maine Technical Center is one of the top schools in the state competing at the SkillsUSA Championships.

The competitions were hosted by Eastern Maine Technical College, Penobscot Job Corps and United Technology Center in Bangor. Four hundred eighty-nine students representing twenty-four Technical Schools throughout the State participated in the SkillsUSA Championships. The SkillsUSA Championships is sponsored annually by the Maine Chapter of SkillsUSA.

All Gold Medal winners will represent the State of Maine in the National SkillsUSA Championships, which will be held June 24-28, 2002 in Kansas City, Missouri.
